Tasting Notes: Medium ruby in color, the wine is immediately open and generous, with inviting aromas of creamy oak and notes of clove, licorice, and crushed, ripe red cherries. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and fresh, well-structured, and youthful, with layered flavors of plum, fennel, and raspberry. The 2018 Mueller Family Cabernet Sauvignon is a cellar-worthy wine that will age well in the bottle for 10-15 years.
Blend: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot
2018 Growing Season: The 2018 vintage at Mueller Family Vineyard on Diamond Mountain was characterized by average yields and a natural canopy-fruit balance. Timely rain in March and April resulted in a slightly delayed bud break and low vine water stress. Warm, even temperatures allowed for the harvesting of healthy fruit in mid-October.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested, then gently destemmed, the must was cold-soaked for 48 hours prior to 15 days of maceration on skins. The wine was bottled after ageing for 20 months in small French oak barrels, 65% of which were new.
